Sometimes it just doesn’t work out the way you wanted it to, but that’s how we learn.
this photo was taken a few hours before my set, right before i was about to practice and see the unfortunate events unfold. now, this issue i’m about to tell you has absolutely nothing to do with the bar or the staff. they were all very kind, i love coming to this bar and i always have a lovely time.
this gig certainly did not go as i wanted it to go. for context, my board has a lot of trouble when it comes to bluetooth speakers, and after this gig, i learned that i need to use wires for my speakers no matter what. the bluetooth in the bar’s speakers wasn’t strong enough for my board and laptop, which caused a huge delay in what i was hearing in my headphones, and what was coming out of the bar speakers. every transition was bad, i could never get on tempo, and the delay was totally messing me up. needless to say, i was quite frustrated.
again- no fault to monopole, i love them and i recommend all you north country folks to stop by and say hello to them!
Was i expecting the first gig to go well? yes, because i had played so many times before so why would i think this would be different? but sometimes things happen when you least expect it, and that’s when you learn the most. this taught me to be extra prepared before any other gigs i have, to always make sure i can do a sound check before and ensure everything runs smoothly
